The St. John's Parenting Group
A dynamic group of parents of young children came together in early 2017 to form the St. John’s Parenting Group with a keen interest in raising godly children, promoting supportive friendships and fellowship. The St. John’s Parenting Group meets every Sunday at 10 a.m. in Dean Kate’s office. If there’s an overflow, you can find us in Cummings Chapel.
Twice a month, guest speakers are present to discuss topics that the parents feel are best for the good of the group. In early March the Reverends David and Heather Erickson presented ideas for daily encounters with God especially for children, as well as kid-friendly, family-focused Lenten activities. This Sunday, Betty Ann Graves is going to present a Godly Play story, as well as tell the story behind the Godly Play curriculum, so that everyone will have a better understanding of how our children here at St. John’s are gaining their faith through story telling. When a discussion is not being offered, the group will meet informally to catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives.
Service will also be an on-going goal of the group along with some informal gatherings outside church later this spring and before Labor Day. Stay updated on our Facebook page: St. John’s Cathedral Parenting Group.
Please feel free to join us! Just grab a cup of coffee and head straight to Dean’s Kate’s office at 10 a.m. on Sundays.
