Arts of the Spirit
Art and spirituality are deeply intertwined, offering a powerful means of exploring the unseen dimensions of our inner life. Through the creative process, art becomes a form of prayer and reflection, a way to express what words cannot fully capture. Whether through painting, poetry, music, or drama, the arts invite us to engage with the divine, to see beyond the material world, and to connect with the sacred.
Here at the Cathedral, the Rev. Dr. Linda Privitera has created distinct opportunities to explore the intersection of art and spirituality.
Soul Garden Mornings
These monthly Saturday mornings are dedicated to delving into the inner life of the soul, with themes aligned with those set by our Dean for the various seasons. Participants engage in a unique form of group spiritual direction, incorporating poetry, art, drama, music, and the collective wisdom of the gathered group. Each session culminates with a celebration of the Eucharist. The next offering will be a Dream Work class, focusing on the messages of dreams and their connection to our spiritual journeys.
Dreams: Messengers of the Inner Life
October 9-12 | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Join Joe O'Shields and Linda Privitera for a unique spiritual journey as we explore the deep connections between dreams and our inner lives. Through reflection on biblical texts, poetry, and the Eucharist, we will engage in a shared exploration of what touches our personal experiences and what unites us. Art by renowned artist Marc Chagall will inspire our sessions, offering visual meditations on the sacred. As we gather, we will nurture deep roots that bear fruit for sharing.
Arts of the Spirit Workshops
In addition to our regular sessions, we offer more intensive Arts of the Spirit workshops several times a year. These workshops provide space for contemplation, creation, and sharing, deepening our engagement with the arts and spiritual exploration.
