Make Plans to Attend a Cursillo Weekend This Fall
Cursillo Weekend will be the last week of September for men and the following weekend for women. All parishioners who have yet to attend Cursillo are invited to make applications for the upcoming fall Cursillo weekends. Registration and a full schedule are available through the Diocese of Florida website.
What is Cursillo?
Cursillo is a short course in Christian life, in ministry of the Episcopal Church under the presiding Bishops. It is a ministry of clergy and laity with the goal being to bring the world to Christ through empowering Christian leaders. A weekend is a catalyst to inspire and empower Christians to this learning and spiritual growth process through Jesus Christ. The centerpiece is the Fourth Day (the rest of one’s life after the weekend) and the gathering monthly to celebrate our faith and joy in Eucharist, song and sharing a meal – the Ultreya.
Ultreya is open to all, especially those who share an interest in Cursillo. This is a Diocesan wide event that rotates from parish to parish. It is part of what our presiding Bishop calls:
The Jesus Movement:
- Find Christians who have the potential to influence their environments (home, work, church, geographic, or social in nature).
- Encourage those Christians – help them to see that God is calling them to do His work.
- Empower these Christians with the means God offers through the Church to be effective apostles, helping them to identify their particular Christian vocation within their environments.
- Link those Christians with one another for the work of apostolic action through spiritual direction in regular small groups, reunions and frequent gatherings – Ultreyas!
