How do we answer these words of Jesus?
Then the King will say to those at his right hand, “Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” ~ Matthew 25:34-36
This week we are sending two of our members down to the border of Mexico to join members of other Episcopal churches to observe the situation and pray about our call from God. No matter where you stand on the issue of immigration, it is clear that this is a global issue and Christians are called to respond. It may be that we establish ministries in some of the South American countries, or it may be that we establish some kind of assistance right at the border itself. We will see what they report.
We are sending John Caulfield, former Chief of the Embassy in Cuba, and Pat Ellis who has a PhD in Education with a focus on English as a Second Language. Please pray for these two remarkable parishioners and for God to show us how we are called to serve.
