Introducing: Cathedral Reads
The Dean's pick, suggested by Devanne Jones, Communications Coordinator, is A Lesson Before Dying, a deep and compassionate novel about a young man who returns to 1940s Cajun country to visit a black youth on death row for a crime he didn't commit. Together they come to understand the heroism of resisting. As our hearts are troubled by the pandemics of Covid-19 and racism, this book and its unforgettable characters will remind us of the heroism of resisting even in the face of inevitable situations.
This offering is separate from the First Monday Book Club and the Faith and Literature class beginning Sunday, June 7th. It is just another offering for us as a church family to have to keep us in touch with each other.
The book is available through the Cathedral Bookstore and Gift Shop by emailing Kathryn Bissette at [email protected]
We will post discussion questions and video clips weekly as we read, and then Cathedral Reads will end with a class hosted by Dean Kate at the end of the summer.
Please join us for this summer reading. The questions and supplements will be posted on the website. If you would like to get a group together to read, you could use Zoom to have weekly discussions. Or just read to your hearts’ content and keep in touch with your thoughts.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected].
Looking forward to reading with you!
Love at the Core.
