OUR CATHEDRAL STAFF IS GROWING: A LETTER FROM DEAN KATE
Dear People of God,
Six months ago, your leadership, the Vestry, made a very important decision. They realized that we as a Cathedral needed to invest in a full-time chief development officer in order to build our endowments, foster generosity and care for our beautiful campus. A search committee began to meet immediately. I want to thank Missy Ketchum, Martha Greene, Lynda Erwin, Gloria Miller, Chris Haley and John Erstling for their help in the search.
After six months and many applicants, we found a woman who had been quietly attending our worship services for over a year. She was happily employed at Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) and I came to know her when I was selected as one of their Women with Heart, a year-long fundraising extravaganza that she created. Her name is Cindy Cooper. After creating Women with Heart and setting VIM on a great path, Cindy felt called to consider another opportunity with us.
Cindy’s public-private sector experience has led to the development and launch of several nationally recognized customer service programs and fundraising initiatives resulting in the successful turnaround of several non-profit organizations. She has been instrumental in shaping legislative appeals that have resulted in the procurement of national, regional, state and local funding of more than $20 million. She has served on national, state and regional committees and has held numerous leadership positions, including Director of Government and Community Investment for Comcast, State Vice President of Take Stock in Children and, more recently, as Chief Development Officer for VIM.
I believe that God has brought Cindy to us. As Chief Development Officer for the Cathedral, she will help us raise funds and develop partnerships that will take us to another level of leadership in this city and community. She is a jewel. Join me in welcoming her to our Cathedral community; she starts June 18.
In Christ’s love,
