Looking Ahead
Dear People of God,
This week, we opened the church for pilgrims. So far, it seems to be going well. I am so grateful to our staff, sextons, Beth Wilson and all the lay ministers who are making this pilgrimage possible. Please know that it is safe. Masks are worn and social distance guidelines are honored. I feel confident that you can make this pilgrimage without taking any greater risk than you would at the grocery store. The people who are coming have said that they feel grateful to be able see our beloved church, to pray, light a candle and receive the consecrated wafer. Please know that you are welcome.
The Vestry and I continue to pray and consult with the Bishop regularly about when and how to return to in person worship. Within the next week or two, we will be offering a buffet of offerings to you: virtual worship, pilgrimage, and some kind of limited Social Distance (SD) worship opportunities. Please know that this new SD worship, as I am calling it, will not be as fulfilling as our typical Cathedral service, for we cannot touch, hug or sing; and we will all have to be masked. But, we can hold worship together in some fashion in the summer. Our virtual worship continues to be well received.
All in all, this is a beautiful community. I feel so blessed to be your Dean and to face this epidemic with you. Thank you for your generosity, your kind words and your prayers. Please continue to reach out to one another. And, may God bless you and keep your safe.
In Christ’s love,
Kate+
