Rest with God
Dear People of God,
As we move into the summer months, I want to encourage you to rest with God wherever you may be. Time spent on vacation is ideally spent in communion with God, in giving thanks for the places that you go and the people you encounter, for food and for play. It is also a time to read widely, perhaps pray in silence while gazing at the beauty in nature, or just to sit still. Remember that resting can be a form of prayer. Even God rested on the seventh day. To rest is holy.
The Cathedral will be worshiping every day with you in some form, either in daily morning devotion videos, evening compline, Sunday worship in person or by livestream. For the past two Sundays, there has been so much joy as we saw faces we haven’t seen in 17 months. It's been like a reunion.
I pray that your spiritual life becomes more like your breath, your heartbeat, your appetite—not as something that is optional but something that is, quite literally, part of the essence of who you are. Don’t stop praying when you go on vacation; go deeper and rest with God.
May God bless you and keep you.
In Christ’s love,
Kate+
