Stations of the Cross, a service of music and poetry

Canon for Music Timothy Tuller will play Marcel Dupré’s masterwork, “The Stations of the Cross,” which was conceived in the form of improvisation at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, February 13, 1931. During the concert, the fourteen stanzas of “Le Chemin de la Croix” by the French poet Paul Claudel will be read by Hayley Tuller. Each stanza is followed by Dupré’s musical interpretation for the organ. The entire composition and its recurring musical themes represent various characters and emotions of the Via Dolorosa, especially Christ and the Virgin Mary.
