Thank You
Dear Cathedral Family,
In all my years as a priest, I have never seen a pledge drive that was conducted in August. And I have never seen such rapid responses. As hard as this pandemic is, there is something stirring in our midst. It seems that you and I are remembering what is important: God and each other. I miss seeing your faces, but I do feel that you are there.
This time of pandemic makes us feel more connected to our history. Many have the time to sit at home and reflect on events in our past and how they shape our present. Did you know that the Presbyterians went to serving communion wine in small cups during the Spanish flu epidemic in the early 1900’s? Who knew? We are also finally examining the tragedies and horrible injustices of our past. It is painful but good work.
What will the church look like at the end of this pandemic? I am not sure, but I do know that this virtual worship will not go away entirely. I think we have found a new way of reaching people. And I do believe many will continue to pray daily, more than ever before.
Once all the pledge cards are in, the Vestry and I will begin to create a pandemic budget. We ask for your prayers in this process. Thank you for everything that you are doing to help this Cathedral thrive and minister.
May God bless you richly in this time.
With love in Christ,
Kate+
