Welcome the Rt. Rev. Porter Taylor September 16 & 17
Next weekend, St. John's Cathedral will host Bishop Taylor. He will share some of the story of his life and faith, and help us explore and share our own stories through a speaker series he calls Telling Our Stories: My Story, Our Story, God's Story.
“Humans are hardwired to make meaning through story. Without it, we’d live in a meaningless universe. The way we understand our faith is by embracing that story, and giving it away. We’re not trying to sell a product here. This is not promotion. We are having a deep conversation, with people we already know, about things that matter” says the Rt. Rev. Porter Taylor, retired Bishop of Western North Carolina.
While at St. John's, Bishop Taylor will lead a Quiet Garden Morning on Saturday. Meet at 9 a.m. in Cummings Chapel for a morning of reflection, sharing and discovery. Sunday morning he will preach at all three morning services. After the 11 a.m. service, please join him in Taliaferro Hall for a reception and a book signing. His books,
Dream as God Dreams: Sermons of Hope, Conversion and Community and From Anger to Zion: An Alphabet of Faith will be available for purchase during the reception and are also available in the bookstore now.
