Welcoming Bob Dannals
Dear Cathedral,
In 2019, your Vestry and I met at the Jesse Ball duPont Center for a retreat. We discussed the life of our beloved Cathedral and its future. The Vestry determined that we needed an experienced priest to run the staff of this place so that I could be liberated to preach, teach, write and serve on boards and in leadership in this city and the world. If I am to function as a true Dean, someone with excellence was going to have to manage the day to day life of this church. And just as we began praying for such a priest, Bob and Valerie Dannals moved to Jacksonville.
The Rev. Dr. Bob Dannals is an exceptional priest. He has been Rector of some of the largest parishes in this nation, including St. Michael and All Angels in Dallas and Christ Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Before coming to Jacksonville, Bob served as Interim Rector at other great parishes: All Saints in Beverly Hills and St. Barth’s in NYC. Bob and his wife Valerie are originally from Jacksonville and have decided to move home.
Bob is everything that the Cathedral needs at this time. He knows what it is to make a large parish operate smoothly and efficiently. He brings such enormous experience and capacity. I must say that only God could have orchestrated this. The fact that Bob has chosen to live in Jacksonville and to serve with us is indeed a miracle.
Please welcome Bob and his incredible wife Valerie to our community.
And let us give thanks together to God for the life of this Cathedral in a new decade.
In Christ’s love,
Kate+
