Count on Me!
Thank You to all who pledged to sustain the ministries at St. John's!
Count on Me Campaign for 2021Our Stewardship & Development Council knew they were facing a strange pledge season: one of social distancing and self-isolation because of Covid-19. How could they create a campaign that builds community, meets our financial needs and bring us together? They found their answer in good, old-fashioned Pony Express style campaign called Count on Me. Everyone can play a part, and together we can make this a success!
Here’s How It Works:
Sunday, August 9, about 50 team leaders (these are the Pony Express riders) will be sent out with satchels from the Cathedral to all corners of the Jacksonville metro area. Each team leader has a delivery list with of 8-10 households along with pledge cards and information. The leader will bring the satchel to the first home on the list.
Once you receive the satchel, please take 24 hours to prayerfully consider your pledge. Then tear off the perforated pledge card, fill it out, put it in the return envelope, seal it and place it in the satchel. Cross your name off the list and deliver the satchel to the next person.
Have Some Fun and Share the Experience:
Snap a selfie while holding the satchel or when delivering it to the next person and post your photo with the hashtag #SJCCountOnMe. If you’re not on social media, send your photo to Devanne Jones at [email protected]. We will gather these photos and create a beautiful collage of the Cathedral. You can request a copy of this keepsake on the pledge card.
All pledging members are also welcomed to receive a yard sign to show your support. Let your neighbors know that they too can count on St. John’s Cathedral. You can request a special “Count on Us St. John’s Cathedral” yard sign on the pledge card.
All satchels will be returned to the Cathedral at the end of the month for a special Ingathering Sunday, August 30. With only three weeks on the road, this may be the fastest and most unique pledge drive ever…we’re counting on you to get the pledge through in record time.
It's always an option to pledge online! Pledge Here.

Why Pledge?
A pledge is a commitment, made after deliberate and prayerful consideration, to contribute a specific amount of money to the parish community. It is a reflection of your gratitude for the abundant blessings God has given you.
Pledging to give on a regular basis enables the Vestry to make realistic budget projections for the coming calendar year. We hope that all households will make a stewardship pledge, even if it is only a small amount per week, as an expression of an ongoing commitment to St. John's Cathedral.
In summary, here are three reasons why pledges are key to the health of our Cathedral:
- Pledges are a way to include Cathedral members in the mission of St. John's Cathedral.
- Pledges help us plan and budget for the future.
- Pledges help to fund Cathedral operations.
What is Pledge Plus?
St. John’s Cathedral invites you to consider an early commitment to this year’s stewardship campaign. Due to the pandemic, we have navigated inconsistencies in income and support this year. Much of our revenue depends on our physical presence together. We’ve lost grants and revenues related to the use of our space. Many parishioners are facing difficult financial circumstances. Our Pledge Plus initiative provides church members and friends with a thoughtful opportunity to make an additional gift for the remainder of 2020. Your supplemental investment in St. John’s will ensure that we remain financially strong and continue to serve through our many wonderful ministries.
