Pardon Our Dust
Construction begins Monday, July 15. What was the reception desk, several offices and the former bookstore will be demolished. New walls will go up to create a spacious nursery, reception area and a modern conference room with multi-media enhancements.
At the end of last year, we relocated the Cathedral Bookstore and the clergy and development offices to 221 E Church Street. That move heralded our commitment to playing a leadership role in the transformation of the Urban Core. We are now visible outside the walls of the Cathedral and operating in the Cathedral District. It also completed phase one of the construction plan.
Now that plans, permits and funds are in place, we are ready to begin phase two. We believe the new nursery and meeting room will serve us well as we look to attract young families and community partners to the Cathedral. During construction, Judy Maurer will be receiving Cathedral visitors and answering the phone from the Dean’s Conference Room. Meredith Cataland will stay in place. Donna Meyers-Perry and Liesl Gavronsky-Howsare will move to the second floor.
Please remember that the construction area is off limits. No trespassing! Once the work is finished, all will be invited to tour the new space. As we await the new nursery, we ask you to consider whether you might want to volunteer for the Children’s Ministry. Contact Liesl Gavronsky-Howsare to find out what the needs are: [email protected].
