Daughters of the King (DOK)
Daughters of the King (DOK) is an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church or churches in communion with it. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation a Daughter pledges herself to a lifelong program of prayer, service and evangelism – dedicated to the spreading of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. New members attend a 10-week discernment study group followed by three to six months of participation in activities before taking their vows. Membership in the Order is a lifelong commitment. The members of St. John's Cathedral DOK meet as a group on the third Saturday of each month from September through June in Ingram Lounge from 10-11:30 a.m. There is also a DOK chapter (Grace) at the Cathedral Residences. This chapter meets in the library at the Cathedral Townhouse on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 5:00 p.m.
