There are two paths of Holy Baptism in the Episcopal Church: infant baptism and adult baptism.
Infant Baptism
In our tradition, we baptize children to welcome them into God's family and the community of faith. Baptism is a way of saying that God’s love and grace are with us from the very start, even before we fully understand it. By bringing our children to be baptized, we affirm that they belong to God and are part of something bigger than themselves.
Adult Baptism
Adults who want to be baptized go through a journey of learning about the Christian faith in the Episcopal tradition. This process, called the Catechumenate, helps them explore the foundations of our faith and how we live it out in our daily lives.
In the Episcopal Church, baptism is celebrated during our Sunday worship service. During the service, the whole congregation promises to support and walk alongside the person being baptized, welcoming them into our faith community.
