Grow

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

~2 Peter 3:18

Christian formation is the lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. Every experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith; the challenge we face is recognizing these opportunities and learning ways to live a sometimes counter-cultural life in a secular world. At St. John’s Cathedral, we offer many opportunities for people of all ages and stages to come together every day of the week, to “read, mark, and inwardly digest” the Word of God, the Love of Christ and the many different ways to express our faith. We believe that through Christian Formation we can be agents of Transformation and thus our motto: Formation for Transformation.

Sundays

Summer Series
"The Chosen" Discussion Group | 9 a.m. | Taliaferro Hall
June 15-August 10

Join Linda and Tom O’Dell this summer for a compelling discussion series centered around The Chosen, the groundbreaking multi-season television drama about the life of Jesus and his disciples. We’ll gather each Sunday at 9 a.m. in Taliaferro Hall to reflect on scenes from the show and explore the Scriptures that inspire them.

The Chosen dares to step into the spaces between the lines of the Gospels—imagining what might have happened in the quiet moments, the conversations, the relationships that Scripture alludes to but doesn’t detail. The writers make thoughtful, creative decisions grounded in biblical scholarship and cultural context, all while never losing sight of the heart of the Gospel: the life-changing presence of Jesus Christ.

Whether you’ve watched every episode or are just beginning, you’re invited to engage in thoughtful conversation and spiritual discovery. Each session will offer time to watch key clips, read and discuss the related passages, and share insights on how the series brings these ancient stories to life in fresh and faithful ways.

Discipleship Groups

The Discipleship Group is one of the Church's most powerful tools for helping us become the believers Jesus commissioned us to be. At St. John's Cathedral, several small groups meet weekly, providing opportunities for people to deepen their relationship with God and grow in their faith. We believe that when a group centers around God’s Word and is committed to building each other up to trust and obey Jesus, growth as a disciple naturally follows. To find out more, contact Dean Kate or Father Mark.
