Donate Altar Flowers

We appreciate your flower donations.

Make a flower donation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How much do flowers cost each Sunday?

It costs a total of $155 to put flowers on the High Altar ($90) and Cummings Chapel ($65) each Sunday. The cost to put flowers on All Altars, which includes the transepts, is $255 (each transept altar is $50).

We also incur other expenses such as supplies and flowers for other services so we also appreciate donations to the general flower fund in any amount to help cover these costs.

May I place flowers on the Holy Communion Altar or the Ascension Altar?

We do not regularly put flowers on the side altars, but please feel free to request those altars if you prefer. The cost of flowers for the side altars is $50 per altar.

I would like to give flowers to honor a loved one but I cannot afford that amount of money. Am I out of luck?

No, we recognize that a gift of that amount may not be possible for everyone.

Multiple dedications per Sunday give us the opportunity to meet the budget as well honor the dates that are meaningful to our members.

We also welcome donations, in any amount, for the general flower fund to help with overall costs of flowers and needed supplies. Our flower fund is dependent on donations from our members.

Are gifts to the flower fund tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations to the flower fund are tax deductible and will be on your year-end statement from the Cathedral.

How far in advance must I make my donation?

Please submit your donation at least one week prior to the date you would like to dedicate the flowers. This will give the church staff time to ensure your dedication is in the weekly bulletin.

How do I make a donation and memorial?

You may call the church office (904) 356-5507 or click the purple button above.

You may also place the form with a check in the Sunday offering plate at least one week in advance of your donation date. Forms are located in the narthex and in the hall to Cummings Chapel or you may print a form using the purple button above.

How are the flowers chosen?

The flowers chosen each week are dictated by the Liturgical calendar and the Dean. They are meant to enhance, not distract from our worship or the current season. The size of each arrangement (36 in. x 36 in.) is determined by amount of space needed by the service participants and by the size of our flower stands.

During the season of Lent, greens and/or cactus gardens are used to set a more reflective mood.

What happens after I make my donation?

The Sanctuary Guild Flower Chairman orders flowers from the Cathedral florist based on the season and Liturgical Calendar. A sanctuary guild volunteer will then beautifully and simply arrange the flowers for Sunday. The Sunday arrangements will then be rearranged after the service and distributed to church members who are sick, recovering or celebrating a milestone. So one donation goes a long way!

Does the Sanctuary Guild also arrange the flowers for weddings and funerals?

No, the Sanctuary Guild is not involved with wedding or funeral flowers. Wedding flower questions should be answered by the Wedding Coordinator. Funeral flower questions will be handled by the church staff. All flower arrangements for the High Altar should be no larger than 36” tall x 36” wide.

We appreciate your flower donations. Make a gift in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a person, an event or a milestone. Until it is safe to return to a full in-person worship schedule, we will be placing floral arrangements at the altar on Wednesday evening for the recording of the Virtual Service and on Sunday morning for the Social Distance services. Simple bouquets can be arranged using flowers from your garden or bought in the grocery store. Contact Teresa Mason to participate.
