A Community Celebration of God’s Presence in All People
Honoring The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray
You are warmly invited to a special liturgy celebrating the blessings of inclusivity and diversity and honoring the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, the first Black woman ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.
A poet, priest, and pioneer, Pauli Murray devoted her life to faith, learning, and the hope of a more loving world. Her poetry and life story continue to inspire those who seek to walk in courage, compassion, and truth.
“Hope is a song in a weary throat.
Give me a song of hope and a world where I can sing it…”excerpt from Dark Testament
We are honored to welcome Cindy Watson, founder and former CEO of JASMYN, as our guest preacher. Under her leadership, JASMYN became a nationally recognized model for youth centers serving LGBTQIA+ young people. Today, JASMYN provides vital support and resources to more than 1,000 members of our local community each year.
Join us to rejoice in the enduring promise of God’s grace and the strength we find in a community that welcomes all of God’s children. All offerings collected during the service will benefit the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. Presiding at the altar will be The Rt. Rev. William H. Stokes, 12th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey.
