America’s 640 million acres of public lands are more than beautiful places to visit—they are vital to protecting biodiversity, storing carbon, safeguarding clean water, and preserving our shared natural heritage. Public Trust examines the ongoing struggle to protect these lands from development and exploitation, focusing on places such as Bears Ears National Monument in Utah, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.

Although the film was released in 2020, its message is as timely today as ever. The questions it raises about conservation, stewardship, and the future of America’s public lands have only become more urgent.

Following the screening, Vanessa Trujillo, Ph.D., Senior Conservation Program Manager with the National Parks Conservation Association, will discuss the current challenges and opportunities facing our national parks and public lands. Jimmy Orth, Executive Director of St. Johns Riverkeeper, will bring the conversation closer to home, exploring the importance of protecting Northeast Florida’s public lands and waterways.
