Blessing of the Animals and Pet Festival
September 11, 2025It is my joy to begin to announce some of the fall Dean’s Forums. I love musing with our leadership about the issues of the day and how we can equip you to become better followers of Jesus out there in the world.
This coming Sunday, September 14, I will be joined by a special guest. Kevin Sack is the author of the book Mother Emanuel: Two Centuries of Race, Resistance, and Forgiveness in One Charleston Church. I will interview Kevin about his experience writing this powerful book about the church where Dylann Storm Roof gunned down the faithful who had gathered for an evening Bible Study on the night of June 17, 2015. This is a book of great insight but also great hope.
On Sunday, September 21, we will begin a Dean’s Forum on the subject of Bravery. This series is based on the book How We Learn to Be Brave by Bishop Mariann Budde. Designed by Linda O’Dell, this series will resemble the Forums on The Chosen that so many enjoyed this past summer. We will explore the brave Acts of the Apostles and share video stories of bravery from some members of our Cathedral. The series will run through October 26.
On Sunday, November 9, we will begin a class called Peace of Mind. I want to share with you some of the great experiences and lessons that I learned on Sabbatical. Topics will include: The Blessing and Taming of the Cell Phone, Finding Quiet in the Busy World, and more.
All Dean’s Forums take place on Sundays at 9 a.m. in Taliaferro Hall. Breakfast is also served. I can’t wait to see you there!
