Family Promise

Family Promise of Jacksonville is a non-profit, interfaith hospitality network providing temporary assistance, hospitality and case management for families with children experiencing homelessness. We recognize that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response. Our interfaith, nonsectarian network brings the faith community together to help our community’s families regain housing, independence and dignity in a time of need. With nearly an 85% success rate of homeless to home transition, Family Promise of Jacksonville is building better communities, one family at a time.

The Rev. Deacon Saundra Kidd

Deacon
(904) 356-5507 |

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Saundra grew up in the Baptist Church, later coming to Jacksonville and to the Episcopal Church through the influence of her husband, Bob Kidd. The Kidds have been long-time active members of St. Mark’s Church, Ortega, and it was by their sponsorship that Saundra sought ordained diaconal ministry. After her ordination four years ago, she served at St. Mark’s until June 1, 2020.

In addition to her degrees from Huntington College, Montgomery, and the University of Alabama, Saundra has also completed significant theological education in preparation for ordination. Following her masters program in Math, Saundra worked for Prudential/AETNA for 27 years, retiring as the Director of Small Business Operations.

Saundra has a wide breadth of experience in both lay and ordained ministry, serving primarily in outreach, formation and pastoral care. She also has participated at the Diocesan level, currently serving on the Commission on Ministry. Saundra’s areas of focus at St. John’s will continue to be the same.

She and Bob have two adult children, Tiffany and Andy, and two grandchildren, Maggie and Emily.

We appreciate your flower donations. Make a gift in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a person, an event or a milestone. Until it is safe to return to a full in-person worship schedule, we will be placing floral arrangements at the altar on Wednesday evening for the recording of the Virtual Service and on Sunday morning for the Social Distance services. Simple bouquets can be arranged using flowers from your garden or bought in the grocery store. Contact Teresa Mason to participate.
