Every year, St. John’s Cathedral offers a Hunger Fight Packing Event to help combat food insecurity in our Jacksonville community. This engaging occasion involves teamwork to pack meals that will benefit hundreds of our community members. The event is free and a great intergenerational activity for the whole family!
What to Expect Immediately after the 10:30 a.m. service, the Outreach Council provides a light lunch. Please indicate that you would like a bag lunch when you register. The Hunger Fight Packing Event begins at 12 p.m. in Taliaferro Hall. Remember to wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for a few hours.
Hunger Fight’s delicious meals come in a 4-serving pouch perfect for feeding a family. Shelf-stable and requiring only boiling water to prepare easily, these meals can stand alone as a great-tasting family meal. Varieties include Beans-N-Rice, Cheezy Mac, and Brown Sugar Oatmeal. School backpack programs and food pantries have experienced a dramatic increase in food needs for children, seniors, and families over the past two years. Enriched with up to twenty (20) added vitamins and nutrients, these meals can provide that extra boost a child, adult or senior needs to meet their daily nutritional requirements, filling them up and increasing their focus, concentration and energy.
