Episcopal Church Women
April 19, 2024Shutterbug Competition
April 19, 2024Dear friends,
Next Wednesday, we will launch Pathfinders, a new class I will teach at the Cathedral. The class is designed to answer two basic questions. First, what is the Christian faith? Second, why does this matter to me?
At least once every few weeks, someone will tell me they’re not sure God exists, they can’t comprehend why God allows evil to persist or they’re dubious about the Bible’s integrity. You may have these questions yourself, or you may know a friend who stopped attending church because they couldn’t find satisfactory answers to these questions.
In this class, we will help you develop a framework to think about some of these central and sometimes vexing questions of the Christian faith. However, the goal of the class is not simply to give you information. We want to help you take the next step and understand how you are called to respond to the good news of our faith. Therefore, we will talk about how our lives should be changing because of our relationship with God.
This class will begin on September 28, meeting in Ingram Lounge every Wednesday for 8 weeks. We will gather each evening at 6 p.m. to share a meal, hear a presentation on a different topic, and then have time for discussion at your table, concluding at 7:30 p.m.. The more consistently you attend over the 8 weeks, the more you will benefit as you develop relationships with people at your table.
In addition to attending this class yourself, I invite you to pray about who you might invite to accompany you. Do you have a neighbor who is searching for a faith community? Do you know someone who is lonely and would enjoy sharing a meal and developing some new friendships? Do you have a child who has stopped attending church because they have questions about faith and can’t find the answers?
Please reach out to me if you have any questions about this class. I look forward to seeing you Wednesday, September 28, as we gather for dinner, teaching, and discussion!
