St. John's Cathedral Annual Giving 2025
Some seed fell onto rich soil where it brought forth fruit: some one hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty…
~Jesus’ words Matthew 13:30
Jesus often used images from nature when he was talking about our relationship with God. When a seed is planted in good soil, its roots dig deep, making it strong and resilient. From those good roots, a stalk grows tall and eventually fruit comes in abundance. Deep roots in the spiritual life will bear rich fruit for the kingdom of God. The Cathedral has laid deep roots in its 190 years on this holy hill. We have praised God, cared for the sick and suffering and birthed many ministries and non-profits that have shaped this city. And today, we stand on the verge of an abundance of ripe fruit that will transform our life together. We are opening our doors once more on Wednesdays with lunch, dinner and an abundance of offerings. New people are coming through our doors every week and joining our community.
Please consider increasing your pledge this year by at least 10%.

My name is Danny Abdelnour. Not only am I a cradle Episcopalian but my entire life can be traced to this cathedral.
My mom was baptized, confirmed and married here. I was baptized, confirmed and married here. Both my parent’s funeral services were held here and my daughter was baptized and confirmed here. To say that this church was, is and always will be a big part of my life is an understatement.
I encourage all that are able, to give what you can for the many ministries this church offers.13:30
My father started going to the Cathedral in 1969 when he was transferred with Anheuser Busch from Tampa to Jacksonville to start a new job. Mom, Jenny, and I moved to Jacksonville in 1970 when the school year was over. Our dad had already made the Cathedral his church family after being welcomed by Jacques Lawton. Our father got involved from the start with programs like Pass it On. Our father’s involvement over the years continued with preparing meals for the homeless, supporting Habitat for Humanity, being on the vestry, and being a lay reader. He and my stepmother were actively involved in many of the church programs for years until they moved to St. Augustine in 2015.
As I have gotten older I have realized more that the Cathedral is our home. It is a place for fellowship with other people who believe and a place to grow in our Christian faith. It is a place that is dear to our family and a place that reminds me of what is important in life faith in action, to be the hands of God in the world. To give to the church is to continue the work of the people who came before us and believed in God and contributed to the church so it would continue, and by continuing other people could witness God's love, feel supported by others, and deepen their faith.
