St. John's Cathedral Annual Giving 2025

Some seed fell onto rich soil where it brought forth fruit: some one hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty…

~Jesus’ words Matthew 13:30

Thank you for your 2025 pledge.

We are almost there!

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has pledged to support the mission and ministry of the Cathedral. Together, you have given $1,605,403 toward our goal of $1,650,000—an incredible testament to our shared commitment and faith.

If you haven’t yet pledged, there’s still time to join us and help us reach our goal! Every gift matters and brings us closer to fulfilling our vision.

Hospitality at St. John's Cathedral

In the past six months alone, we have shared food and fellowship with close to 5,000 people—whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner, or during one of our concert receptions. With your support, we can do even more to share God’s love through a shared table.

Wellbeing at St. John's Cathedral

Every day, members of our community face challenges that often feel overwhelming. Whether it’s the emotional toll of a cancer diagnosis, the isolation of caregiving for a loved one with dementia, or the struggles of navigating life after a divorce, the need for holistic, compassionate support is greater than ever.

  • 1 in 3 people will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. The emotional and spiritual burden of facing this disease is immense.
  • 61% of caregivers report high levels of stress or burnout, yet fewer than half receive the support they need.
  • Nearly 50% of marriages end in divorce, leaving individuals searching for healing and new beginnings.

An Answer to Needs

The Center for Wellbeing at St. John's Cathedral is our response to these pressing needs. This newly renovated space is dedicated to supporting whole-person health, not only for our parishioners but for our broader community as well. Here are just some of the services we’ll be offering:

  • Cancer Support Groups to guide individuals and families through the complexities of illness.
  • Divorce Care to help people rebuild and rediscover hope.
  • Caregiver Support to provide much-needed relief and companionship.
  • Contemplative Yoga to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

My name is Danny Abdelnour. Not only am I a cradle Episcopalian but my entire life can be traced to this cathedral.

My mom was baptized, confirmed and married here. I was baptized, confirmed and married here. Both my parent’s funeral services were held here and my daughter was baptized and confirmed here. To say that this church was, is and always will be a big part of my life is an understatement.

I encourage all that are able, to give what you can for the many ministries this church offers.13:30

My father started going to the Cathedral in 1969 when he was transferred with Anheuser Busch from Tampa to Jacksonville to start a new job. Mom, Jenny, and I moved to Jacksonville in 1970 when the school year was over. Our dad had already made the Cathedral his church family after being welcomed by Jacques Lawton. Our father got involved from the start with programs like Pass it On. Our father’s involvement over the years continued with preparing meals for the homeless, supporting Habitat for Humanity, being on the vestry, and being a lay reader. He and my stepmother were actively involved in many of the church programs for years until they moved to St. Augustine in 2015.

As I have gotten older I have realized more that the Cathedral is our home. It is a place for fellowship with other people who believe and a place to grow in our Christian faith. It is a place that is dear to our family and a place that reminds me of what is important in life faith in action, to be the hands of God in the world. To give to the church is to continue the work of the people who came before us and believed in God and contributed to the church so it would continue, and by continuing other people could witness God's love, feel supported by others, and deepen their faith.
