Artist Statement
Art for me is a rejuvenating, regenerative and spiritual process, a testament to the vitality of our world and our place in it. While striving to create a variety of dynamic, inventive, and unique paintings, I often return to the beauty and study of flora and fauna in the natural world. The act of producing art, and other’s engagement with it can lead, in my opinion, toward the spiritual. This is true for both the creator, and then the viewer who brings one’s own experiences and responses.
To be properly expressed a thing must proceed from within, moved by its form.
John S. Bunker
Rest: Color, Line & Texture is the current exhibition of recent paintings by Jacksonville based artist, John Bunker. The exhibition will be displayed in the Taliaferro Hall Gallery at the St Johns Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida. (July 7 through September 5, 2025). The show features a compilation of diverse, inventive and unique works inspired through observation of the natural environment. Bunker believes that the act of producing art and the subsequent engagement by others can lead toward the spiritual and create a restful experience.
