April 22, 2024Call for Vestry Nominations
April 22, 2024On Sunday, December 4, we will celebrate St. Nicholas with a special service at 9 a.m. in Cathedral Park. Did you know that St. Nicholas was a real person? Nicholas was Bishop of Myra in the fourth century. He cared deeply for other people. The many stories of his generosity are based in historical facts. Possibly the best known is the story of his giving, in secret, dowries to three sisters.
Many families celebrate his feast day by having the children leave their shoes by the door as they go to bed the night before. When they awaken on December 6, Nicholas’s feast day, they find their shoes filled with gold-wrapped chocolate coins.
Come to the Family Service on December 4! Who knows? Maybe there will be gold coins left in your shoes. 🙂
