Owene Courtney

Director of Formation and Spirituality

Send Email

(904) 632-9104 ext. 151

Owene Courtney has been involved in Christian Formation and Spirituality for 40 years. She is an EfM graduate and has been an EfM mentor and taught youth confirmation for much of that time. As Director of Formation and Spirituality, she looks forward to guiding the people of St. John’s Cathedral in the process of formation and discernment of their gifts. As disciples of Christ, we are all called to love, pray, serve, worship, learn, give, work and join. To that end, formation and spirituality are about encouraging each other to practice those disciplines and holding each other accountable as we do.

Owene is married to Bill, a Cathedral member, and has three sons and daughters-in-law and five grandchildren and another one due in April.

Laura Eldredge

Director of Community Engagement

Send Email

(904) 632-9104 ext. 123

Laura is a natural connector. The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell would identify her as a maven, “a person who has both information and the social skills to pass it along.” Her love of building community began in her college years where she built community as a Zeta Tau Alpha sister not just within the sorority but also in promoting the sorority’s participation across the LSU university community. While in graduate school at The University of Texas Laura led her fellow MBA students in an Austin Chamber of Commerce program designed to grapple with a rapidly changing Austin. Over a 30+ year career of entrepreneurship Laura has owned two successful commercial and industrial shops, (printing and engraving), and currently manages real estate investment properties in both Texas and Florida.

This extensive experience building and enhancing community both as a ‘builder’ and a ‘manager’ now comes together in this exciting opportunity to work in a church setting. Laura has been an active member of Christian congregations since childhood. She especially loves the role of getting to know the “people in the pews” and connecting them with each other, with the opportunities to serve St. John’s Cathedral, and the Jacksonville community while helping them build a deeper personal relationship with God. She is rejoicing in the relationships unfolding in Jacksonville and especially at The Cathedral. Reach out to Laura anytime, especially if you are looking for a service opportunity. Or perhaps a group to pray with, play with, and/or study with. Laura would love to connect with you.
