The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville performs under the globe, featuring Virgil Thomson’s The Plow That Broke the Plains. Thomson wrote the score in 1936 for a government documentary about the Dust Bowl, composing 25 minutes of music in just two weeks. The result became one of the great American musical portraits of the Great Plains.
