St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians: “A Roadmap to Freedom”
Try to imagine St. Paul writing his Letter to the Philippians. He’s imprisoned in Rome during the last days of his life. He is awaiting execution.
Almost miraculously, he has found a way to freedom. In his heart he is free and unchained. The chains of his incarceration — even his certain death — are no match for the faith and the hope that he has found in Christ Jesus.
The words he writes in his letter to the Christians in Philippi offer them a roadmap to the same freedom that he has found. Those words are now offered to us.
This one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13b-14
There is so much in life that seeks to imprison us in chains of fear, resentment, sickness, sorrow, and shame. Paul offers us a way out of these prisons. He provides a roadmap to freedom!
Please join us as we “press on” in our own journeys into freedom.
Grace & Peace,
