One of Christianity’s most ancient services, Easter Vigil begins in the darkened Cathedral with the Service of Light: kindling a bonfire and lighting the Paschal candle. By candlelight, we recount Hebrew Scripture’s history of God’s saving works and then renew our baptismal vows. Then, everything changes: life, light, resurrection! WE will make some noise! Shout “Alleluia!” because Jesus is risen.
The Vigil culminates with the Eucharist. Alleluia! Christ is risen! We invite you to join us in worship at St. John’s Cathedral, whether in person or online, on Sunday mornings. Our worship is based on the traditions of The Episcopal Church and features beloved hymns, Gospel, and choral music. Inspirational sermons are a mainstay at St. John's Cathedral. All who seek a deeper relationship with God in Christ are welcome to receive Communion. We are grateful for your presence and pray this service inspires and uplifts your journey of faith.
