Join us for a Dean’s Forum with Dr. A. Quinton White, known as “Mr. Science of Northeast Florida,” on environmental advocacy. Dr. White has spent five decades studying the St. Johns River and founded Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute. This conversation continues Wednesday evening with a panel discussion under the globe.
Dr. A. Quinton White
Dr. A. Quinton White, Jr. is Founding Executive Director Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Biology and Marine Science at Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute. Known as “Mr. Science of Northeast Florida,” he joined JU in 1976 and spent 48 years studying the St. Johns River, retiring in 2024. He led the effort to build the MSRI’s LEED Gold-certified facility and helped bring OCEARCH, the world’s largest shark research program, to Jacksonville. He writes a monthly column, “River Life,” for the Florida Times-Union, and in 2024 JU established the Dr. A. Quinton White Marine Science Endowed Fellowship in his honor.
