St. John's Live

Watch the livestream at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Worship Service Bulletins
YouTube Video CrGxHlCLP0o St. John’s Cathedral hosts an evening of reflection, hope, and celebration in honor of Juneteenth, featuring the Jacksonville Gospel Chorale directed by Cedric Williams with accompanist Henry L. Parker.

Dr. Tammy Hodo, founder of All Things Diverse and a nationally recognized speaker, offers a keynote address. In her powerful 2020 TEDx Jacksonville talk, Dr. Hodo spoke candidly about her lived experience as a biracial woman navigating the divides of race in America. She brings thoughtful, credible insight into how we can confront the enduring effects of racial constructs and begin honest dialogue toward justice and unity.

Following the program, the Union of Black Episcopalians, Father Sidney B. Parker Chapter, will host a reception that will include a book signing with civil rights leader Alton Yates, author of Living the Legacy: The Story of Alton and Gwen Yates.

Trinity Sunday, June 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.

St. John's Cathedral

You are warmly invited to a special liturgy celebrating the blessings of inclusivity and diversity and honoring the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, the first Black woman ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.

A poet, priest, and pioneer, Pauli Murray devoted her life to faith, learning, and the hope of a more loving world. Her poetry and life story continue to inspire those who seek to walk in courage, compassion, and truth.

“Hope is a song in a weary throat.
Give me a song of hope and a world where I can sing it…”
excerpt from Dark Testament

We are honored to welcome Cindy Watson, founder and former CEO of JASMYN, as our guest preacher. Under her leadership, JASMYN became a nationally recognized model for youth centers serving LGBTQIA+ young people. Today, JASMYN provides vital support and resources to more than 1,000 members of our local community each year.

Join us to rejoice in the enduring promise of God’s grace and the strength we find in a community that welcomes all of God’s children. All offerings collected during the service will benefit the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. Presiding at the altar will be The Rt. Rev. William H. Stokes, 12th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey.

In the Book of Acts, the story is told:
"When the day of Pentecost had come, the disciples were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, filling the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability."

At St. John’s Cathedral, Pentecost will be celebrated by reading this passage in many languages, a fire breather will represent the “tongues of fire,” and we will celebrate Baptisms and Confirmations.
