April 22, 2024Thanksgiving Day Eucharist and Potluck Dinner
April 22, 2024Once a year on All Saints’ Day, we pause intentionally to remember those we love whom we see no more…the saints in our lives, those known and unknown, who marked our worlds in meaningful ways. All Saints’ Day celebrates a spiritual bond between heaven and earth which is an essential part of our theology…
Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
…as we say in the liturgy for the Burial of the Dead.
On Sunday, November 6, we will read the necrology, a list of all those who have died this past year and loved ones who have gone before. Everyone in attendance has the opportunity to add a loved one’s name to this list. If you are unable to attend, you may email the name you would like read aloud to Pam Searcy ([email protected]).
On All Saints’ Sunday we also welcome new believers through baptism. The whole circle of life in Christ is celebrated from the very beginning to the end. At the end of the service, there will be a brief blessing in the Bishop’s Garden for those who have family members buried there.
All Saints’ Sunday is a time to let our hearts be reminded of the people in our lives who made a difference, those famous and those known only to us. It is a time to give thanks for their gifts and for their strengths, for what they taught us, and most of all for what God has done through them for us and for the kingdom, using them as a means of grace.
