Juneteenth Gospel Mass
April 19, 2024Engaging the Contemplative Life
April 19, 2024Dear Cathedral,
I felt so loved on Sunday as you cared for me after the bishop election in the Diocese of Connecticut. I would have been honored to serve in the state where I was born, and my fiancé lives, but I always felt simultaneously called to remain here with you. The process of discernment was difficult, but I learned a lot.
I learned more about myself and was reminded that I have never been as fulfilled in my priesthood as I am with you. I am so grateful for your love.
I also learned about the church. As I visited churches and thought deeply about the future of our denomination, I also grew in my understanding of where God is leading us. We have so much work to do. This shouldn’t be discouraging but should propel us to increasingly listen for God’s voice and respond to God’s call.
More so than ever before, I feel passionately that we are called to shine as a beacon of God’s love on Billy Goat Hill. We are the most beautiful community of people from all walks of life, races, genders, economic strata, ages, sexual orientations, and nationalities! I have never been prouder of who we are and what we represent here in Jacksonville.
I am blessed to be your Dean.
With love,
Kate+
